How to Determine If a Website Has an Affiliate Program

So, you found a website related to your niche, which offers some great products targeting your niche and you want to see if they have an affiliate program.

The first thing to do is to skim the homepage to see if there is a page related to an affiliate program. What you will be looking for is a link that says one of the following: Affiliates, Affiliate Program, Become an Affiliate, Partners, Partner Program, Become a Partner, Referral Program or something like that. Often times, it is difficult to spot that link, but if it exists, it will most probaby be to the bottom of the homepage or on a page like “About Us” or “Company Info”.

If you can’t locate such a link, you could do a quick search adding one of the terms -affiliate, partner or  referral- to the name of the website and see if you can find anything. If you can’t, it is either because they don’t have one or it is not open to the public. In this case, the only thing you can do is to contact them via email or phone and ask if they have an affiliate program. Most of the business owners will gladly give you the info you seek.

Let’s say, they replied and told you that they don’t have an affiliate program at that moment. Yet, you really want to promote those products that the website offer and get a commission by doing so. In this case, what you need to do is to tell them how you can promote their products, drive traffic and prospects to their website. Speak as professional as you can be. Even better than that, send them some traffic if you can and show the traffic stats to persuade them.

If the business owner is entrepreneur enough to take the necessary actions, you could even make a special contract just applying to you. Afterall who could say not to more visitors and more sales if somebody will do the work for them?

How to Handle the Information Overload

Is there a single day that you don’t learn something new about internet marketing? For me, there is not. Whenever I look for something I come up with a different idea or tactic about copywriting, marketing or the technical stuff. There is so much to learn but there is not that much time to apply all the things that is learned.

Believe me, I came across dozens of strategies that promised me to make money in a short time, however none of them really worked, since I didn’t work on them enough to make them work. It took me about one year to realize that it wasn’t the tactics that is failing, it was my mindset. And I am on the way to change this.

Today, I made a promise to myself:

I will never fill in a sign up form -which consists of a name and email field- for anything related to making money online. Because I now have nearly all the tools that a marketer needs to make money online and I believe that I have enough knowledge on the subject. What I need is not to learn more but to act more about what I already learned and to learn by acting, to learn by failing and to learn by succeeding.

I know there are thousands of brilliant tactics that could be used to make huge money. I know because people sell those all the time, and people buy it. On the other hand, I know some really simple tactics, which are obvious and have a higher chance to work for you. I know because the people who sell those tactics do utilize them and the people who buy do not.

So, instead of just waiting for the next great tactic that will make me rich, I will keep searching for it, and at the same time I will be using the simpler ones to get into action and build my business on a strong base. Meanwhile, I may find the great one, while working on the simpler ones.

To conclude, what you need to do to handle the information overload is to stop acquiring more knowledge and to get into more action.

Which Way Will You Go: Black Hat or White Hat?

For the past one month, I’ve been searching deeply about the black hat techniques related to making money online, especially by affiliate marketing. What I discovered was a large number of dirty secret techniques that some internet marketers behind the spots have been successfully utilizing for years to make huge amounts of money every single day.

I am not the authority to define what “Black Hat” is here, however I call something black hat if wouldn’t like to see other people doing it. So, to name a few of them, I would say, autoblogging, spamming in general – forums, blogs, social networks, classifieds – link farming, search engine manipulation and so on. I am sure there are tons of other black hat fields and tons of subcategories for the ones that I listed.

Each of them are so promising that it is difficult to resist. However, one common thing about black hat techniques is that you can’t use the same one forever. You can indeed make some really quick cash, though you will always need to revise and replace the techniques to survive. I know there are lots of people who happily makes great  deals of money out of black hat techniques and most of the times, if not always, they don’t bother with the fact that it is against the Terms of what they use and sometimes it is even illegal.

On the other hand, there is another path.

A bright path: To go White Hat. To be totally honest and transparent about everything you do, to work hard on your business to make it work and staying away from any shady or illegal actions. Again, I know people who makes thousands a day by totally utilizing white hat activities. They do not fake, lie or spam people, they build a tiny bit each day to grow their business consistently. And what is good about that is they build relationship with their followers and in time, they become an authority in whatever niche they are targeting.

So, which way will you go: Black Hat or White Hat?
